Dorothy's sister, Edna Kruckewitt, graduated in the St. Francis Hospital School of Nursing Class of 1946-A.

Dorothy and Edna were the daughters of Edward Kruckewitt and Clara Catherine Kornely. At the time of the 1940 Federal Census of Shaler, Allegheny County, Edward and Clara were the parents of Dorothy, 17, Edna, 14, Edward, 11, Charles, 9.

Dorothy Alice Kruckewitt, born on April 19, 1922, married Frank V. Sanelle in 1948 in Philadelphia. They divorced in 1972. They were the parents of Thomas Vincent, Margaret, and Joseph.

Dorothy Sanelle died on June 22, 2011, last residence Buena Park, California.
