Dorothy Dickey's sister, Elizabeth Joan Dickey, graduated in the Class of 1944.

While a student nurse at St. Francis Hospital, Dorothy M. Dickey participated in the U. S., World War II Cadet Nursing Corps. Her membership cards indicate that she was born on April 8, 1928, and her father was Michael Dickey, a Machine Operator. They lived on Pine Street, Ambridge, Beaver County, Pennsylvania.

At the time of the 1940 Federal Census of Ambridge, Beaver County, Pennsylvania, Michael Dickey, born in New York, and Anna (Sovich) Dickey, born in Pennsylvania, had four daughters: Helen [Ellen], 21, Elizabeth, 19, Anna, 18, and Dorothy, 12. Michael, born in 1892, was an Army veteran of World War I.

Dorothy's father died on September 7, 1969. Her mother died February 5, 1991. The father's death notice indicates that Dorothy was the wife of William Oakes of Waldwick, New Jersey.

Dorothy was born on April 8, 1928, and her death occurred on January 30, 2012 in Allendale, New Jersey.

OBITUARY: Dorothy Marie Oakes, 83, of Allendale, formerly of Waldwick, entered into eternal rest on Monday, January 30th. Beloved mother of James Christopher, William James Jr., and Michael Stephen. Adored grandmother of Ryan James, Teresa Marie, Katherine Marie, Kevin Michael, Natalie Rene and Matthew James. Dear wife of the late William James Oakes Sr., and beloved sister of the late Ellen, Anne and Elizabeth Dickey. Visiting hours will be held on Friday, February 3rd from 2-4 and 7-9 PM at the Feeney Funeral Home, 232 Franklin Ave, Ridgewood, NJ. A burial service will be held at George Washington Memorial Park in Paramus on Saturday, February 4th at 9:45 AM.
