OBITUARY
Evalyn Closser Loughman, age 89, of Waynesburg, died at 8:45 AM on Friday, December 27, 1996, at Greene Co. Memorial Hospital, Waynesburg.
She was born April 11, 1907 in Morris Twp., Greene Co., daughter of the late Daniel and Emma Ross Closser. She lived most of her life in Greene Co. where she was a member of the First Baptist Church, Waynesburg, the Tracy Sunday School Class and a former member of the Board of Deaconesses. She graduated from St. Francis Medical Center School of Nursing in 1930 and from Duquesne Univ. in 1950. After a brief period of private nursing, she worked as a Pa. State Nurse at Mont Alto Sanitorium. Following this she worked as an Industrial Nurse for United States Steel Co. From 1941 to 1950 she was employed by the Metropolitan Ins. Co. as a Public Health Nurse. After graduation in 1950 she held a faculty position at the Veterans Hosp. in Pittsburgh from 1951-1974, when she retired. She was a member of St. Francis Medical Center Nursing Alumnae, Charter member of the International Sigma Theta Tau Honor Society of Nursing, Pa. Nursing Association, League of Nursing Education, The National Association of Retired Federal Employees, The John Corbley Chapter of the National Honor Society, Daughters of the American Revolution, National Association of University Women, and an Alumnus of Duquesne University.
She is survived by son, Dennis D. Loughman of Fort Meyers, FL; granddaughter, Danielle Lee of Tuscon, AZ; niece Ruth Ellen Mitchell of Waynesburg and several cousins. She was pre-deceased by a brother, James M. Closser.
Visitation will be at MILLIKEN AND THROCKMORTON FUNERAL HOME, 197 N. Maiden St., Waynesburg, PA, Sunday, December 29, 1996, from 2-4 and 7-9 PM, where Funeral Service will be Monday, December 30, 1996 at 1:00 P.M., with the Rev. Dale Warren. Burial will be in Oakmont Cemetery, Waynesburg, PA.
