Elizabeth Rita Logan, born in New Castle, Pennsylvania on February 12, 1903, was the daughter of Thomas Logan and Mary Murphy. Elizabeth's siblings were Thomas, Katherine, and Joseph.
Elizabeth married Arthur J. McGuirk, an Army veteran of World War I, and they resided in New Castle. In the the 1940 Federal Census, there was a son, Harold, 18, from Arthur's previous marriage to Nora Sauls. Additional children were Mary K., 3, Jean, 1 and Arthur Jr., 8 months.
Elizabeth died on September 25, 1957 and she is buried at St. Marys Cemetery, Lawrence County, Pennsylvania. Her husband died in 1964.
OBITUARY: New Castle News, September 25, 1957 - Mrs. Arthur J. McGuirk, 54, 515 Sumner Ave., the former Elizabeth R. Logan, died in the New Castle Hospital at 2:30 a.m. today after a lingering illness. - Born in this city Feb. 12, 1903, she was the daughter of Thomas and Mary Murphy Logan. She had resided all of her life here and was a graduate nurse of St. Francis Hospital, Pittsburgh, and a member of St. Mary Church. - Surviving in addition to her husband are the children, Harold A. McGuirk, Arthur J. McGuirk, Jr., Mrs. William F. Palmer and Jean Ann McGuirk, all of this city; two brothers, P. L. Logan, DuBois, Pa.; Joseph A. Logan, and one sister, Mary G. Logan, both of New Castle. - One brother and one sister, Thomas C. and Kathryn F. Logan, preceded her in death. - The body is at the McGonigle Funeral Home N. Beaver St. at Falls where friends may call on Thursday and Friday from 3 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. - The time of the service will be announced.
