MILDRED L. SPEWOCK - Age 76, of Murrysville, died Thursday, August 30, 2001 in the Cedars of Monroeville, after a lingering illness. She was born May 23, 1925 in Johnstown, daughter of the late Stephen and Susan Macto Lepeta. A longtime resident of Murrysville, Mildred was a graduate of the St. Francis School of Nursing, Pittsburgh. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by two sisters, Ludmilla Dobie and Ann Demerer and a brother, John Lepeta. She is survived by her husband, Metro Spewock; a daughter, Sandra S. Feder and her husband, Jack of Westport, CT; three sons, Frank Spewock and his wife, Marguerite of Yardley, PA, Stephen Spewock and his fiancé, Pearl Abraham of New York City and Andrew Spewock of Murrysville; a sister, Helen Morrison of Penn Hills; two grandchildren, Christopher E. Spewock and Leslie A. Spewock of Yardley and a number of nieces and nephews. There was no public visitation. Private services and entombment were in the Twin Valley Memorial Park Mausoleum, Delmont, PA. METRO SPEWOCK, Metro Spewock, 90, of Murrysville, died peacefully Tuesday, March 17, 2009, in Alterra Care Bridge of Murrysville with his son, Andrew, by his side. He was born Nov. 5, 1918, in Latrobe, a son of the late Frank and Pearl Cherup Spewock. Metro was a first lieutenant in World War II, serving both domestically and on Iwo Jima. He entered Carnegie-Tech on the GI Bill, earning a degree in mechanical engineering. Metro worked his entire professional career at Westinghouse Research in Churchill, retiring in 1985 as manager of materials testing and evaluation. He was active in local politics, becoming chairman of the Murrysville Zoning Hearing Board for a time. He was preceded in death by his wife, Mildred Lepeta Spewock, in 2001; three sisters, Mary Durasky, Helen Spewock and Julia Kurela; and two brothers, Andrew and Samuel Spewock. Metro is survived by a daughter, Sandra (Jack) Feder, of Westport, Conn.; three sons; Frank (Marguerite) Spewock, of Yardley, Stephen (Pearl Abraham) Spewock, of New York City, and Andrew Spewock, of Murrysville; two grandchildren, Christopher and Leslie: a brother, Theodore (Agnes) Spewock, of Derry Township; and a sister, Margaret (James) Avampato, of Bel Air, Md.; and a number of nieces and nephews. A loving and devoted husband and father, Metro was well-liked by all who knew him and will be dearly missed. Thanks and gratitude to the devoted caregivers at Alterra Care Bridge, Forbes Hospital and Heartland Hospice.Visitation from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Friday at the HART FUNERAL HOME INC., Murrysville. Service at 10:30 a.m. Saturday in the funeral home, followed by entombment in the Twin Valley Memorial Park, Delmont.
