OBITUARY: The Altoona Mirror, September 11, 2013: Audrey L. Krause, 91, Altoona, died Monday at The Lutheran Home at Hollidaysburg after a brief illness. - She was born in Altoona, daughter of the late Anthony and Helen (Fagan) Lavelle. - Surviving are a daughter, Marycatherine Krause, M.D., of Greenwich, Conn., and Virginia; a sister, Phyllis L. Sheetz of Burke, Va.; and a niece, Annette Wilson of Cumberland, Md. - She was preceded in death by a brother, Anthony Lavelle. - Audrey graduated from Hurst High School, Westmoreland County. She studied nursing at St. Francis Hospital in Pittsburgh and graduated from Penn State University with a bachelor's degree in nursing. She retired as a registered nurse from Van Zandt VA Medical Center with 40 years of service. - Audrey was a member of the Cathedral of the Blessed Sacrament, Altoona, and served as a Eucharistic minister at Altoona and Bon Secours hospitals. She was a member of the Catholic Daughters of the Americas, Catholic Nurses Association, Cathedral Christian Mothers, VFW, American Legion of Scottdale, where she was past president of the auxiliary, and the Red Hat Society. She was a past board member of Altoona VA Hospital Federal Credit Union, and she enjoyed reading and traveling. - Friends will be received from 4 to 8 p.m. today at Jones Funeral Home, where a vigil for the deceased will be celebrated at 6:30 p.m. A funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Thursday, Sept. 12, 2013, at the Cathedral of the Blessed Sacrament, Altoona. Committal rites will be held at Calvary Cemetery, Altoona. - In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to The Lutheran Home at Hollidaysburg, 917 Hickory St., Hollidaysburg, PA 16648.
