Class of 1912
In 1900, Bertha Lantzy, age 9, born in September 1891, was living in Cambria County, Pa., with "cousins" David and Lavina (Woodley) Lantzy.
Bertha was 19 in the 1910 census of Pittsburgh, at which time she was a student nurse, residing in the St. Francis Nurses' Home.
Bertha Lantzy married, place and date unknown, Samuel S. Steffler, a Medical Doctor. He was born in Lawrence County, Pennsylvania on January 30, 1988 and he died March 24, 1971 in Pittsburgh. They had a daughter, Dorothy, in 1917.
Bertha (Mrs. S. S. Steffler) provided the information for the death record of Lavina Woodley Lantzy, who died in 1915. David Lantzy died in 1917 and he refers to Bertha in his will as his adopted daughter. Some published genealogies state that Lavina Woodley was her mother.
Bertha's birth year is stated as 1890 in the Social Security Death Index. She died in April 1988, and was buried next to her husband at Allegheny Cemetery, Pittsburgh on April 16.
