Born in Pennsylvania on January 29, 1912, Josephine S. Kukora was the daughter of John Kukora and Anna Majircak?, both born in Czechoslovakia.
The family was not readily found in census records prior to 1930, but Josephine graduated from Brownsville High School, Class of 1930.
At the time of the 1930 Federal Census of South Brownsville, Fayette County, John Kukoa, retired, and Anna Kukora, had the following children in the home: Verne, 23, Katherine, 42, Frank, 20, Frances, 20, Josephine, 18, Agnes, 16, and Helen, 13. - Other known children were Anna and John.
According to the 1940 census, by 1935, Josephine was living at the Clara Ford Nurses's Home, Detroit, Michigan, and was employed as a hospital nurse at Henry Ford Hospital.
