OBITUARY: Elizabeth (Kovach) Gessler, Summerfield, Fla., passed away peacefully Monday, Feb. 13, 2017, at home surrounded by her loving family. She was born Aug. 7, 1934, in Latrobe, a daughter of the late John J. Kovach and Elizabeth C. (Tarnazie) Kovach. She was a professed member of the (OFS) Order Franciscan Secular since 1954 and a member of the San Damiano Fraternity, Summerfield. She was a graduate of St. Xavier Academy and of St. Francis Hospital and Rehabilitation Center, Pittsburgh. She was a retired certified registered nurse anesthetist (CRNA). She worked at Westmoreland Hospital, Greensburg, and Saginaw General Hospital in Saginaw, Mich. She was a member of St. Theresa Roman Catholic Church. She is survived by her loving and devoted husband of 60 years, John Albert Gessler; five children, Janine (David) Hubinger, of Carlsbad, Calif., John (Helen) Gessler, of Sydney, Australia, Joyce (Joseph) Mello, of Waynesboro, Va., Therese (Mark) Rodammer, of Stuarts Draft, Va., and Michael (Cynthia) Gessler, of Twinsburg, Ohio; 14 grandchildren, Katie (Ryan) Furtado, Meagan (Chendhore) Veerappan, Christopher (Angelica) Hubinger, David Michael Hubinger, Shaun Hamilton Gessler, Danielle Patrice Gessler, Zachary (Megan) Mello, Lauren Elizabeth Mello, Peter Andrew Mello, Jacob Thomas Mello, Nicholas Mark Rodammer, Noah Alexander Rodammer, Rachel Ann Gessler and Sarah Ann Gessler; a great-granddaughter, Indira Grace Furtado; one sister, Scholastica (Kovach) Geary; and many nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by two siblings, John Kovach and Albert Kovach. Family, friends and others whose lives she touched are invited to celebrate the life of Elizabeth from 4 to 8 p.m. Friday, Feb. 17, 2017, at the HARTMAN-GRAZIANO FUNERAL HOME INC., 1500 Ligonier St., Latrobe. A funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Saturday, Feb. 18, 2017, in St. Vincent Basilica, 300 Fraser Purchase Road, Latrobe.
