OBITUARY: Ruth Kossol Rowland, 90, a resident of Towamencin Township for the past 56 years, died on June 30, 2014 at Abington Hospice at Warminster. She was predeceased by her husband of 64 years, Owen Rowland, who died in 2012. Born March 22, 1924 in Charleroi, Ruth was the daughter of the late Stanley and Frances (nee Lucas) Kossol and was the sixth of fourteen children. Mrs. Rowland graduated from the St. Francis Hospital School of Nursing and later completed her nursing degree at Gwynedd Mercy College. She worked with the Visiting Nurses Association of Philadelphia in the 1950's. After her daughters were old enough for school, she returned to employment as a school nurse for the North Penn School District. She was an active member of Corpus Christi Church and sang in its choir for over 30 years. She was accomplished at writing poetry and presented family members and friends with personalized poems on special occasions. Mrs. Rowland is survived by her two daughters, Kathleen Wong and her husband, Richard, of Florham Park, NJ, and Cynthia Lesitsky and her husband, Jeffrey, of Salfordville; four grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; her sisters, Audrey Kossol and Joan Bilchick; and her brothers, Charles, Jerome, and Robert Kossol. In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by three brothers, William, Walter, and John Kossol, and five sisters, Mary Zampatti, Anne Kossol, Isabel Coppi, Sister Mary Therese Kossol, and Josephine Olsen. Relatives and friends may greet the family 6-8 p.m. Thursday, July 3, 2014 at Huff & Lakjer Funeral Home, 701 Derstine Avenue, Lansdale, and again 9-10 a.m. Saturday, July 5, 2014 at Corpus Christi Church, 900 Sumneytown Pike, Lansdale, PA 19446 where a Funeral Mass will begin at 10 a.m. Interment will be private in Whitemarsh Memorial Park, Ambler.
