OBITUARY: MARYANN (KNAKE) PAVLIC of McCandless, died peacefully on Monday, October 5, 2020 at home, surrounded by her loving family. MaryAnn was the beloved wife and best friend of Dr. George J. Pavlic, who preceded her in death on March 27, 2020 of this year. She has been reunited with the greatest love of her life; they would have celebrated their 60th wedding anniversary on October 22nd. MaryAnn, who was a nurse at St. Francis Hospital, met George in 1959 while caring for a mutual patient. They were married in 1960, and together, they raised their children to be faithful, compassionate and loving people. MaryAnn is survived by her children, Maria Barrett (Michael), Karen Pavlic Santelli, MaryBeth Pavlic, Lynne Pavlic Marshall (Scott) and George Pavlic (Beth); her adoring grandchildren, Claire Barrett, Bryan Barrett, Gabrielle Santelli, Alannah Pavlic, Luka Pavlic, and Nikolas Pavlic. MaryAnn was also a cherished sister, aunt, cousin, godmother and friend to many. She was the eldest of nine brothers and sisters: Carole Cortes (Ronald), Dorothy Magallon (Richard), Walter Knake (Mary), Pegi Wright, Kate Harrison, Jim Knake (Joyce Seltzer), Beth Knake, and her youngest brother, Jack Knake, who preceded her in death. MaryAnn graduated from St. Justin High School in 1955, and from St. Francis School of Nursing in 1958. A Christlike woman, with her gentle, kind and wise nature and devotion to serving others, MaryAnn instilled the same characteristics in her children and grandchildren and inspired all whose lives she touched. A devout Catholic and member of St. Sebastian Parish, MaryAnn served there in many capacities, including Eucharistic minister, RCIA instructor, and funeral planner. She was tirelessly devoted to her work to save the unborn. Together with her husband, she volunteered at the Red Door (St. Mary of Mercy) and Forbes Hospice. MaryAnn made several missionary trips to Appalachia with St. Sebastian Parish to build homes for the poor. Visitation for MaryAnn will be held on Sunday, October 11th from 1 to 5 p.m. at SPERLING FUNERAL HOME, 700 Blazier Drive, McCandless Twp. A joint Memorial Mass and celebration of life will be held for MaryAnn and George on Monday, October 12th at 10 a.m. at Saint Teresa of Avila Church, Perrysville.
