Katherine Clara Kleber was born October 31, 1906 to Andrew Nicklas Kleber, a Dairyman, and his wife, Matilda Rihn, of Shaler Township, Allegheny County. By 1910, Katherine had a brother, Andrew. By 1920, she had four more sisters - Louise, Mary, Mathilda and Clara.
Katherine graduated from the school of nursing in 1929. In 1930, Katherine Kleber, graduate nurse, employed at a hospital, was a boarder at a residence on Pacific Avenue, Pittsburgh. Other nurses lived at the residence, including Blanche Spada, Class of 1930; Wanda Zwed, who was probably Wanda Szwed, Class of 1929, and Veronica Gordon, Class of 1929.
At the time of the 1940 census, Katherine (spelled Catherine in 1930 & 1940), 38, a trained nurse - private, was living in the family home in Shaler Township with her parents and her sisters, Mary, Clara and Rita, the last named born about 1923.
The father, Andrew N. Kleber, died in 1945. His wife, Mathilda Rihn Kleber, died in 1962. The family lived at Mt. Royal Boulevard, Glenshaw. The death information for the mother was provided by her daughter, Mary,
