Margaret Kanyuk was born about 1924 in Pennsylvania to John Kanyuk and Mary Baranko, both born in Czechoslovakia. The family lived in Aliquippa and are found in the census records. In 1930, the children of John and Mary were Helen, 16, John, 12, Mary, 9, and Margaret, 7.
John Kanyuk, a pipe fitter, born in 1874, died April 10, 1958. He is buried at Mt. Olivet Catholic Cemetery, Aliquippa.
Margaret married Unknown Greenberg and made her home in California. Her nursing license was last renewed in 1993, at which time she was a resident of Long Beach.
BROTHER'S OBITUARY: John Kanyuk, 84, of Aliquippa, died Saturday, June 8, 2002, in Rochester Manor. - Born July 1, 1917, in Aliquippa, a son of the late John Sr. and Mary Baranko Kanyuk, he was a retired millwright with U.S. Steel, Ambridge, and a member of St. Titus Roman Catholic Church. - Surviving are his wife, Antonette Damassa Kanyuk; a daughter and son-in-law, Kristine and George Avdellas, Hopewell Township; a son and daughter-in-law, Tom and Nancy Kanyuk, Morristown, N.J.; five grandchildren, John and Angela Avdellas, Jill Bookman, Amy Benson and Melissa Trought; seven great-grandchildren, and two sisters, Margaret Greenburg [sic] and Mary Summer, both in California. - He was preceded in death by a sister, Helen Swogger. - Friends will be received Monday from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. in the HUNTSMAN ALIQUIPPA FUNERAL HOME, 2345 Mill St., where a prayer service will be conducted Tuesday at 9 a.m. followed by a Mass of Christian burial at 9:30 a.m. in St. Titus Roman Catholic Church. - Private interment will follow in Beaver Cemetery.
