According to the Social Security Death Index, Clara Jean Kaczmarek was born in Mt. Pleasant, Westmoreland County, Pennsylvania on April 11, 1902. Her parents were Frank A. Kaczmarek and Teofila C. Pikulski.

By 1910, Frank A. Kaczmarek was deceased. Teofila, 31, born in Russia, lived in Sewickley Township, Westmoreland County, with her children, Andrew, Clara, Angeline, and Frank. Teofila's widowed mother, Maria Pikulski, also lived in the home.

At the time of the 1930 census of Mt. Pleasant, Westmoreland County, Pennsylvania, Clara "Kaccmarek," Nurse, age 28, lived with her mother, Teofila, a widow, age 51, born in Poland. Clara's siblings in the home were Andy J., 30, Angeline, 25, and Frank, 21.

From a list of Pennsylvania Registered Nurses, 1940-1941, published by the Pennsylvania State Board of Nurse Examiners: "Clara Jean Kaczmarek, 5192 Cooper Ave., Detroit, Mich."

Clara married Joseph M. Ness, and they are found in the 1940 census, residents of Detroit. Joseph, 40, was a timekeeper for an aluminum company. Clara, 37, was a nurse at a department store.

When her mother, Teofila Kaczmarek, died in 1961, Clara Ness, address stated as Mt. Pleasant, provided the information for the death certificate. Mrs. Kaczmarek is interred at Transfiguration Cemetery, Mt. Pleasant.

Joseph Ness died in 1987. Clara's death occurred on February 6, 1991. They are buried at Roman Catholic Polish Cemetery, also known as the Transfiguration Cemetery, Mt. Pleasant. A number of her family members are buried there, as well.
