OBITUARY - Herald Standard

Genevieve K. McCune, 71, of Grindstone, Pa., died Tuesday, Feb. 12, 2002, in Uniontown Hospital.

She was born Oct. 7, 1930, in Brownsville, Pa., daughter of the late John J. Hutlas [who died] in 1948, and Susan Fedor Hutlas in 1973.

She was a life-long member of St. Mary's Roman Catholic Church, Brownsville, Pa.

She was a graduate of Brownsville High School, Class of 1948. In 1951, she graduated from St. Francis Hospital School of Nursing.

She was formerly employed as a Registered Nurse at Brownsville General Hospital, retiring on Nov. 17, 1993.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband of 28 years, John L. McCune, who died in 1983, and whom she married on Aug. 30, 1955; and a stillborn baby girl in 1957.

Surviving are the following children, John L. McCune Jr., and his wife, Cynthia of Greencastle, Pa., and Sharon L. McCune Cibrik and her husband, Jerome Cibrik of South Charleston, W.Va.; three grandchildren, Jennifer E. and Lisa A. Cibrik and Robert Lee McCune; a very dear friend, Walter P. Novinsky; brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law of the George and Elizabeth Branigan McCune family; numerous nieces and nephews of the McCune family; and many close friends.

Friends will be received in the SKIRPAN FUNERAL HOME, 135 Park St., Brownsville, Pa., today from 2 to 4 and 6 to 9 p.m., where a prayer service will be held on Friday at 9 a.m., followed by a Funeral Mass at 9:30 a.m., in St. Mary's R.C. Church, Brownsville, with the Rev. Fr. Vincent Gigliotti and the Rev. Fr. John Szecesny co-celebrating. Interment will be in LaFayette Memorial Park. St. Mary's Christian Mothers will recite the Rosary today at 7 p.m.
