At the time of the 1920 census, Mary was living on Fifth Avenue, Pittsburgh, with fellow 1914 graduate, Emma O'Donnell, 30, and two Schmidt sisters, one of whom, given name not stated, was possibly Ida Schmidt, also from the class of 1914. Miss M. Herman, 26, was a nurse in an office, and Miss Emma O'Donnell was a nurse in Public Health. The Schmidt sister who was a nurse worked in private practice.
In 1923, Mary Madelaine Herman married Christopher Joseph Herrly, born July 4, 1893 in Pittsburgh. He died November 26, 1949 and was buried at Calvary Cemetery, Pittsburgh. Mary Herman Herrly died on November 21, 1979.
