Obituary of Dr. William Fronczek

Dr. William M. Fronczek Sr., 84, a general practice physician in Lawrenceville for 50 years, died Monday of a heart attack at his home.

Dr. Fronczek did his undergraduate studies at Duquesne University and was a 1932 graduate of the Georgetown University Medical School.

He was a World War II veteran of the U.S. Air Force and served on the medical staff at what was then known as St. Francis General Hospital.

Dr. Fronczek, who received the Nathaniel Bedford Award for outstanding medical care and service to the community, retired in 1977.

Surviving are his wife, Mary Helinski Fronczek; a son, Dr. William M. Jr., of McMurray, Washington County; three daughters, Mimi O'Malley and Teresa Rowles, both of Mt. Lebanon, and Cathryn A. Zimmons of Potomac, Md.

Visitation will be from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. today in the Walter J. Zalewski Funeral Home, 216 44th St., Lawrenceville.

A funeral mass will be offered at 9:30 a.m. tomorrow in Holy Family Roman Catholic Church, 256 44th St., Lawrenceville. Burial will follow in St. Stanislaus Cemetery, 700 Soose Road, Shaler.

Contributions may be made to the St. Francis Medical Center Memorial Fund.

Mary C. Fronczek - Age 99, of Greentree, formerly of Bloomfield, died peacefully on Thursday, March 15, 2012. Loving Wife for 52 years to the late Dr. William Fronczek; Mother of Dr. William (Joanne) Fronczek, Jr., of Peters Twp., Mimi (Kerry) O’Malley, Teresa (David) Rowles of Mt. Lebanon, and Kathryn (Paul) Zimmons of Potomac, MD; Devoted Grandmother to Alicia, Michael (Laura Panko), and Kaitlin Fronczek; Kieran (Julie Fossbender), Maura (Ihab) Salib, Megan and Kara O’Malley, and Kathleen (Tom) Freyvogel; Max (Karen Emerson) Speyer and Douglas Rowles; and Jennifer and Paul Zimmons. She was blessed to have eleven great-grandchildren. Mary was born on July 19, 1912, the oldest of 13 children to the late John and Katherine (Staszak) Helinski of Scottdale and is survived by her brother, William Helinski of Scottdale, and sisters, Bernadette Peha of Allison Park and Eleanor Fretts of Philadelphia. Mary was a graduate of St. Francis Hospital School of Nursing, a devoted helpmate in her husband’s medical practice, an accomplished seamstress and homemaker, and a world-class Mom. Mary enjoyed her years at Bethel Park Retirement Residence belonging to the singing club and the knitting club. She later resided at Marion Manor in Greentree. Funeral arrangements by BEINHAUERS.
