Helen Hauck, born in 1920, was the daughter of George H. Hauck, a painter born in Butler County, Pennsylvania, and Margaret C. Ryan, born in Pittsburgh. The family lived in Butler County.
In the 1930 Federal Census, the Hauck family owned a home on William Flynn Highway, Butler. The record indicates that George Hauck was 39 when he married, and his wife was 31. At least two children died as infants. The three children in the 1930 census were twins, George and William, 17, and Helen, age 10.
In 1940, Helen, 19, was a student nurse at St. Francis Hospital and lived at the nurses' residence. She said she had been living in Butler County in 1935. Mrs. Hauck lived in Butler with her twin sons, then 26.
The father died on March 24, 1933, and the mother died on November 16, 1957. They are buried at St. Peter's Cemetery, Butler. William Hauck died in 1998, and George C. in 2009.
OBITUARY: Helen C. Elliott, 88, of Butler died Tuesday at her home. - She was born Nov. 21, 1919, in Butler, the daughter of the late George Henry Hauck and the late Margaret Cecelia (Ryan) Hauck. - She was a member of the St. Andrew Roman Catholic Church, and in her early years she was a registered nurse for Butler Memorial Hospital. - Surviving are her brother, George C. Hauck of Butler; two nieces, Patricia Rasp of Hooker and Mrs. Carl (Marjorie) Smith of Butler; four nephews, George E. Hauck of Chicora, William Hauck and his wife, Susan, of Butler, Galen McManus and his wife, Sharon, of Saxonburg, and David McManus of Butler; and several great-nieces and great-nephews. - She was preceded in death by her husband, James R. Elliott, who died April 25, 1998, and a brother.
ELLIOTT - Friends of Helen C. Elliott, who died Tuesday, July 22, 2008, will be received from noon until the blessing service at 2 p.m. Friday at the Young Funeral Home, 127 W. Jefferson St. The Rev. Steve Neff of the St. Paul Roman Catholic Church will officiate. Interment will be at the Greenlawn Burial Estates.
