MARGARET HACKETT

Class of 1929

Margret Hackett, hospital nurse, 30, born in Ireland, is found in the 1930 census in a home on Brookline Avenue, Pittsburgh, owned by Martin Noone, 49, and his wife Agnes M., 35, both born in Ireland. Agnes was Margret's sister. In addition to the Noone children, an aunt, Fannie B. Hackett, 52, lived there.

On March 13, 1930, Margaret Josephine Hackett filed a Declaration of Intention to become a Naturalized Citizen. As shown, she was born in Mohill County, Leitrim, Ireland on July 17, 1899.

The aunt, Fannie B. Hackett, died on April 18, 1932. The death notice mentions nieces, Agnes Noone and Margaret Hackett, and nephew, James Hackett, of Akron, Ohio. Fannie was apparently the sister of Patrick Hackett, the father of Agnes and Margaret. Fannie's sister, Margaret Hackett Boylan, had owned a hotel in Pittsburgh with her husband. Margaret Boylan died in 1920 and her estate, valued at $20,000, was bequeathed to Fannie. - Property owned by Fannie and then by her nieces and nephews, was auctioned at a sheriff's sale in 1961.

Agnes Hackett Noone died on March 19, 1956 and she is buried in Calvary Cemetery, Pittsburgh. According to her death certificate, her parents were Patrick Hackett and Mary Conboy. Her obituary does not mention her sister, Margaret, but it does name her brother, James, in Ohio.

Margaret J. Hackett, Nurse, last permanent residence in Pittburgh, went to Ireland and returned in October 1932. - There is a marriage of a Margaret Josephine Hackett in Mohill, Ireland in 1937, but this is not confirmed as the St. Francis nurse. In any case, nothing further has been found about Margaret.
