Veronica graduated from the school of nursing in 1929. In the 1930 Federal Census, Veronica Gordon, graduate nurse, employed at a hospital, was a boarder at a residence on Pacific Avenue, Pittsburgh. Other nurses lived at the residence, including Katherine Kleber, Class of 1929; Blanche Spada, Class of 1930, and Wanda Szwed, Class of 1929.
Veronica C. Gordon, 28, married Walter A. Dignam, 32, at Immaculate Conception Church, Irwin, Pennsylvania, on November 25, 1937. The marriage license indicates that Veronica, a Registered Nurse, was born in Whitney (Unity Twp., Westmoreland County), Pennsylvania on September 30, 1909. Her parents were John Gordon, born in Bentleyville, and Mary E. Steininger, born in Connellsville. Her mother was deceased. Walter Dignam, the son of a fireman, was a salesman, born in Pittsburgh.
Veronica's mother, Mary E. Steininger, died in 1918, and her father's second wife was Mary Leonard. The father died in 1954, and his second wife in 1955. Mr. Gordon and both wives are buried at St. Vincent's Cemetery, Latrobe, Westmoreland County.
The obituary of Mr. Gordon and his second wife indicate that Veronica had moved to St. Louis, Missouri.
Veronica's husband, Walter A. Dignam, died in December 1974. Veronica died November 13, 1996.
