At the time of Elizabeth's marriage on June 15, 1944, her parents lived in Vandergrift, Westmoreland County, the location of the wedding.

Elizabeth, a nurse, age 21, married Charles K. Johnston, 26, a signalman, born in Johnstown, Cambria County, and a resident of Wilkinsburg, Allegheny County.

Charles and Elizabeth had a son and a daughter. Charles died in 2000. Daughter, Judith Johnston Moran, died in 2007.
