Emma A. Evans was born in Pennsylvania on February 6, 1899 to John Evans and Julia Daniels, both born in Germany. Emma had two sisters, Alice and Erma.
In the 1920 census, Emma Evans, 20, born in Pennsylvania, was a student nurse at St. Francis. The father's birthplace is not stated, and the mother was born in Germany.
In 1930, Emma, 31, was living with her widowed mother, Julia, 63, at the home owned by her mother at 312 North Aiken Street, Pittsburgh. Emma's occupation was "Manager, Grocery Store."
At the time of the 1940 census, Emma Evans, 41, a Public School Nurse, owned the home on North Aiken Avenue. Her widowed mother, Julia, 73, lived with her. Also in the home was her sister, Alice Hammerstrom, and Alice's husband and two children. Alice was born in McKeesport, Allegheny County, according to her marriage record.
From the list of Registered Nurses in Pennsylvania, 1940-1941, published by the State Board of Nurse Examiners: "Emma A. Evans, 312 N. Aiken Ave., Pittsburgh."
Emma A. Evans is listed as a nurse in the Pittsburgh City Directory for the years 1929, 1934, 1940, 1957, at the 312 Aiken Avenue Address.
Emma A. Evans, died on December 30, 1989. She is buried at Allegheny Cemetery, Butler Street, Allegheny County.
