Elizabeth "Jean" Duwall was the daughter of James W. and Sarah (Rankin) Duwall of Belle Vernon, Pa. Jean's siblings were twins, John and Eleanor, Mary, Phyllis, James W., June and Margaret. Following her father's death, her mother married William E. Vaughn.

Jean became a Certified Registered Nurse Anesthetist and was a past-president of the Pennsylvania Association of Nurse Anesthetists.

E. Jean Duwall died November 11, 1989 and she is buried by her mother at the Belle Vernon Cemetery, Belle Vernon, Pa. Her mother died May 27, 1985.
