From the list of Pennsylvania Registered Nurses, 1940-1941, published by the State Board of Nurse Examiners: "Helen Dorothy Dolinar, Mayview Hospital, Mayview, Pittsburgh."
During World War II, Helen D. Dolinar served in the U. S. Army Nurse Corps between October 5, 1942 until November 4, 1945, earning the rank of First Lieutenant. In her application for Veteran Compensation in May 1950, she stated she was born on October 12, 1915 in Imperial, Allegheny County, and she was a resident of Imperial when she entered service. Her married name was Helen D. Fray.
In the 1930 Federal Census, Helen's family is found on Jug Hollow Road (Imperial), North Fayette Twp., Allegheny County. Jacob and Barbara (Peternally) Dolinar, both born in Yugoslavia, were married in Allegheny County in 1906. They had the following children: Jacob, Jr., 22, Barbara, 20, John, 18, Andrew, 16, HELEN, 14, Kathryn, 12, Margaret, 10, Mary, 8, and Joseph, 5.
The mother, Barbara Dolinar, died of pneumonia on December 10, 1937.
Helen Dolinar married Henry F. Fray.
Henry F. Fray, born on November 20, 1909, died December 19, 1997. Helen D. Fray died on August 24, 2011; last residence, Bridgeville, Allegheny County. They are buried at Melrose Cemetery, Bridgeville.
