ROSE CRAIG McDONOUGH

Class of 1928

The family of Rose Craig is first found in the 1910 Federal Census in Woodward, Clearfield County, Pennsylvania. Hugh Craig, a coal miner, and his wife, Rose (Conley), both born in Scotland, had 4 children: Francis, 4, Bridget, 2, Rose, 1, and Hugh, Jr., 4 months. A female servant, 16, is also with the family.

In 1920, they were in Brisbin, Clearfield County, and the children were Francis, 14, Mary, 12, Rose, 11, Thomas, 8, Cecilia, 6, Hugh H., 3, and Anna, 2.

By 1930, the family was living on Jancey Street in Pittsburgh. Mr. Craig was an overseer at a coal mine. The children were Francis, 24, Mary, 22, Rose, 21, Thomas, 19, Cecilia, 16, Donavan, 13 and Anna, 12. Both Mary and Rose were Hospital Nurses.

Circa 1930, Rose Craig married Redmond McDonough, a police officer, born in Massachusetts. Their first child, Rosella, was born in July 1932. When Rosella married in 1950, she stated that her mother was born in Clearfield County, and her father in Cambridge, Massachusetts.

In 1940, Redmond and Rose lived on Harvard Street, Pittsburgh, and they had two daughters, Rosella, 7, and Kathleen, 5. Later, they had Geraldine and James R., both named in the following obituaries.
