OBITUARY: Mary Ellen Christoff, 88, St. Benedict, formerly of Elmora, passed away Feb. 26, 2010, at St. Benedict Manor. She was born Feb. 4, 1922, in Bakerton, daughter of Michael J. and Ann M. (Hovan) Christoff. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her sisters, Rosella Halverson, Magdallene Christoff and Ethel Shutty. She is survived by her brother, Michael G. (Gloria) Christoff, Greensburg, and numerous nieces and nephews. Mary Ellen was a graduate of St. Francis School of Nursing in Pittsburgh, as an RN. She was a U.S. Navy nurse who served during World War II and was a retired nurse from Miners Medical Center. She was a member of St. Benedict Catholic Church, Carrolltown. Friends will be received from 9 a.m. until time of funeral Mass at 10 a.m. Tuesday at St. Benedict Catholic Church, Carrolltown, the Rev. Jude W. Brady, OSB. Committal, church cemetery.
