During World War II, Dorothy May Casselman, a student at the University of Pittsburgh, participated in the U. S., World War II Cadet Nursing Corps. She stated she had acquired her basic nursing education at St. Francis School of Nursing. On another card, she stated she was preparing to be a Head Nurse - Clinical Instructor. She was enrolled in the Medical-Surgical course at Pitt.
On August 14, 1946, in Hollywood, California, Dorothy May Casselman, Nurse, 23, born in Cincinnati, Ohio, married Robert E. Gibney, 30, a Sales Manufacturing Agent, born in Pittsburgh. They said they lived at Las Palmas, Hollywood. Her parents were Frank J. Casselman and Cecilia C. Smith, both born in Cincinnati.
Robert E. Gibney had been in the U. S. Army Reserves and was called to Active Duty in June 1942. He was separated from the service on May 22, 1946 in California. At the time he applied for Veteran Compensation in 1950, he lived in West Los Angeles, California. He died in May 1985 in San Clemente, Orange County, California.
Dorothy May Casselman Gibney, born December 22, 1922, died on July 9, 2015 at San Clemente. Her online obituary only states that she was a long time parishoner of Our Lady of Fatima. And, "Dorothy was survived by six children and 8 grandchildren, 2 great-grandchildren."
