Class of 1908
Nearly all of the biographies on this site are proved, in terms of the identity of the graduate. In this case, the identity is NOT certain, although quite likely.
Mary E. Carr graduated in the very small class of 1908. Nothing further has been found that positively identifies this graduate. However, she may be the woman of that name who married Benjamin F. Fulton about 1910.
At the time of the 1910 Federal Census, Mary E. Fulton, daughter-in-law, was living on Butler Street with the family of Louis and Margaret Fulton. Their married son was Benjamin F., 24, a student. No occupation is stated for Mary E.
Mary E. Fulton had her first child, Margaret, on March 20, 1911. Over the next several years, she had two more children, Clara and Benjamin.
On September 6, 1918, Mary E. Carr Fulton died of Pulmonary Tuberculosis. Her death record indicates that she was born on April 25, 1888 to Daniel Carr and Lizzie Gifford. She was 30 years, 4 months, and 11 days old. At the time of her death, Mary E. and her family lived on Morningside Avenue. She was buried at Mt. Royal Cemetery.
Nothing is stated about her being a trained nurse.
In the 1920 census, the youngest child, Benjamin, may be the child of that name who was in the local orphanage. None of the three children were with their father in 1920.
By 1930, Benjamin, 41, had been married to new wife, Cecile, 31, for about 6 years. At that time, all three of his children were with them. Margaret was 19, Clara B. was 16, and Benjamin was 14.
When Margaret Fulton married Charles Predmore in 1939, she indicated that her mother, Mary Carr, had been born in Carnegie, and was deceased.
Benjamin Fulton, Sr. died in 1971.
