SISTER'S OBITUARY: Anne A. CAPRANICA, 89, of Uniontown, Pa., passed away Sunday morning, November 4, 2001, in Mount Macrina Manor. - She was born October 24, 1912, in Royal, Pa., the daughter of the late Salvatore Capranica and Filomena Maraney Capranica. - She was a member of St. Therese de Lisieux Roman Catholic Church and its Altar Society. - In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her sisters: Lydia Micarelli, Mary Dorobish and Sophie Pochotko; a brother, Dominick Capranica; sister-in-laws, Sarah Capranica and Victoria Capranica; and brother-in-laws, Michael Kurilla and Emileo Micarelli. - Surviving are her brother: Patsy Capranica of Uniontown, Samuel Capranica of Uniontown, and Anthony Capranica of Warren, Ohio; and a sister, GLORIA KURILLA of North Fort Myers, Florida; several nieces and nephews, brother-in-law, Peter Dorobish; and sister-in-laws, Theresa Capranica and Helen Capranica. - Friends will be received in the Stephen E. Kezmarsky III Funeral Home at 71 Pennsylvania Avenue, Uniontown, Pa., today from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Additional viewing will be held on Wednesday from 12 noon to 1 p.m. when a Blessing Service will be held followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 1:30 p.m. in St. Therese de Lisieux Roman Catholic Church, Uniontown, with Reverend Father Kenneth J. Zaccagnini as Celebrant. - Interment will follow in Sylvan Heights Cemetery.
HUSBAND'S OBITUARY: Michael Kroll Kurilla MD, beloved husband, father, grandfather, physician and friend passed away on Monday, March 20, 2000. He was surrounded by his loving family. Michael was born on Dec. 9, 1922 in Shenadoah, PA. - He was a devoted husband to Gloria for 44 years. He was also a loving father to his children: Dr. Michael Gregory Kurilla and his wife, Virginia of Hockessin, DE and Nancy Jane and her husband, Steven Falk of Lafayette, CA. He was the proud grandfather of Anthony Michael Kurilla, son of Michael and Virginia; as well as Nathan and Angela Falk; children of Nancy and Steven. He is preceded in death by his sister, Marie Tomaras. Loni, his grandpuppy also mourns the loss of Grandpa Mike. - During World War II, Mike served his country proudly in the U. S. Navy. He graduated from Lebanon Valley College with a Bachelor of Science in 1948. In 1953, he graduated from Georgetown University Medical School and served as an intern at the U. S. Naval Hospital in Newport, RI. He married Gloria Capranica in 1955, in Washington, DC. - They relocated to Trenton, NJ where he started his private medical practice and his family. - In 1967, Michael became the Assistant Medical Director of Geriatrics at Trenton Psychiatric Hospital. He served as a pioneering advocate for the elderly and implemented several innovative programs, at a time when the elderly patients were ignored and forgotten by medical institutions. - He received an Award of Professional Accomplishment from the State of New Jersey in 1970 for his many achievements. - Michael and Gloria relocated to Fort North Fort Myers, FL after retiring in 1985. Mike loved to take walks with his wife, Gloria, travel, play golf, socialize with friends and neighbors, paint, sing in the chorus, and spend time with his family. - A memorial mass will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Thursday, March 30, 2000, at St. Francis Xavier Catholic Church at 2133 Heitman Street in Fort Myers, 33902. - In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to Hope Hospice and Palliative Care, 9470 HealthPark Cir., Fort Myers, FL 33908 (941 -482-4673). - You have done so much good for so many people.
