Jane Cappuzzello was born on July 29, 1911 in Punxsutawney, Jefferson County, Pennsylvania. Her parents were Giorgia "George" Cappuzzello (1876-1936), born in Italy, and Theresa Iorio (1891-1968), born in Punxsutawney.

At the time of the 1920 & 1930 Federal Censuses, the family lived in Youngstown, Mahoning County, Ohio. The Cappuzzello children named in the 1920 Federal Census were Anna, Jennie (Jane), Tonnie, Frank, Marie, and Angelo. In 1930, the children in the home were Jane, Anthony, Frank, Mary, Angelo, Amelia, Joseph, and Rose M.

The father, a barber, died in Mahoning County, Ohio on January 13, 1936, of the ravages of an advanced disease.

Jane Cappuzzello, a Registered Nurse, age 25, died on September 26, 1936, at Pittsburgh City Home & Hospital, South Fayette Twp., Allegheny County, Pennsylvania. She had resided at the hospital where she was employed. The cause of death for this young nurse was "Bichloride of Mercury Poisoning - (Probable Suicide)." She is buried at Calvary Cemetery, Youngstown, Ohio.
