Class of 1936
Frances Caloger was difficult to find in census and other records, mainly because her name was commonly "Catherine" or "Catherine F." in records, rather than her original name, Frances Catherine. It is clear that she was known as "Catherine."
First found was a death record of "Mrs. Nicholis Goyette," of the right age for the St. Francis graduate, and whose maiden name had been Caloger. And, she had been a Registered Nurse.
Fortunately, her marriage was published in The Punxsutawney Spirit on September 7, 1937. It confirms that Catherine graduated from the school of nursing at St. Francis Hospital, Pittsburgh.
The surname GOYETTE is the Americanized version of GUAETTA.
Catherine Frances Caloger was born in Italy on April 15, 1907 to Anthony Caloger(o), a coal miner, and Rose Polito, both born in Italy. She seems to have been their only child.
The mother, Rose Caloger, died of a stroke on December 23, 1929. In the 1930 census, "Kathryn F. Caloger," age 22, lived with her widowed father in Punxsutawney.
In the 1940 census, Catherine was married to Nicholas Goyette, a railroad laborer, born in Sicily, Italy. They had two children, Rose Marie, 1, and Nicholas A., 5 months. Catherine's father, still a coal miner, lived with them. The census record indicates that Catherine was living in Pittsburgh in 1935.
Frances Catherine Caloger Goyette/Guaetta was not quite 42 when she died on April 14, 1949. She had surgery for a cyst on her right kidney, and she died of complications. She is buried at the Calvary Cemetery in Punxsutawney, where her parents and husband are also buried. Her gravestone sets the record straight about her name.

Frances' father, "Anthony Calogero," died on April 8, 1951, at the age of 61. His death certificate indicates that he had been employed at the B & O Railroad.
