HUSBAND'S OBITUARY -- Charles William Baird, Jr.

Charles William Baird, Jr., 84, of Wilmington, died Thursday, May 6, 2010, at home.

Charles was born June 23, 1925 in Pittsburgh, PA, son of the late Charles W. Baird, Sr. and Adelaide Archibald Baird.

Mr. Baird served in the U.S. Army during World War II. He graduated from University of Pittsburgh with a BS in Business Administration and a Masters in Education. He was a member of the American Legion in Pittsburgh for over 40 years and a Vice-Captain with the Pittsburgh Coast Guard Auxiliary for 24 years.

He is survived by his wife of 43 years, Evelyn Brennan Baird; sister, Nancy Baird Taylor of Ocala, FL; niece, Nancy Clark Bell of Wilmington; and five great-nieces and great-nephews.

A Mass of the Resurrection will be 10 a.m. Thursday, May 13, 2010, at St. Mary Catholic Church with Rev. Bob Kus officiating.

Inurnment will be in Indiantown Gap National Cemetery, Annville, PA, at a later date.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made in Charles' name to American Cancer Society, 2202 Wrightsville Avenue, Suite 111, Wilmington, NC 28403.
