At the time of the 1930 Federal Census, Kathryn Brasch, 21, born in West Virginia, parents born in West Virginia, was a student nurse and lived at the Nurses' Residence at the St. Francis Hospital School of Nursing.
OBITUARY (Altmeyer Funeral Home, Wheeling, WV)
Kathryn B. Brasch Oliver, 92, of Wheeling, died Thursday, May 24, 2001, in Good Shepherd Nursing Home, Wheeling.
She was born in Wheeling, March 3, 1909, daughter of the late William H. and Margaret Weisgerber Brasch.
She was also preceded in death by her husband, James A. Oliver, in 1958; a daughter, Sarah "Sally" Oliver Bodkin, in 1996; two sisters, Margaret ”Peg” Brasch and Mary Brasch Miller; and a brother William "Bill" Brasch, who died while serving in World War II.
Kathryn was a registered nurse at Wheeling-Pittsburgh Steel Corp.; and she then taught school for 18 years at St. Michael School, Wheeling.
Kathryn was a former volunteer at Wheeling Hospital; a member of St. Francis Nursing Alumni Association, Pittsburgh, Pa.; a member Wheeling Hospital Auxiliary; St. Michael Christian Mothers and Christ Renews His Parish; Kathryn was a member of St. Michael Parish for 90 years; and a 24 year resident of Brookpark Place, Wheeling.
She is survived by five daughters, Sue Hohman and her husband, Tom, of Triadelphia, Kathy Burgoyne and her husband, Thomas, of Wheeling, Peggy Dailer and her husband, Thomas, of Warwood, Carol McPhilliamy and her husband, Scott, of St. Clairsville; and Toni Bader and her husband, Fred, of Troy, Ohio; two sisters, Billie Altemus and her husband, Donald, of Berea, Ohio and Teresa Brasch of Wheeling.
Kathryn was a much beloved Nana to her 17 grandchildren, Heidi Hohman, Julie Hohman, Jodie Hohman, Erin Burgoyne, Thomas Burgoyne Jr., Beth Burgoyne Amico, David Dailer, T. Jay Dailer, Kerry Dailer, Suzie Dailer; Megan McPhilliamy, Marisa McPhilliamy, John Bodkin, Kate Bodkin, Sarah Bader, Abby Bader and Jim Bader; and four great-grandchildren, Tyler Dailer, Ali Dailer, Maggie Dailer and Kenadee Burgoyne.
Friends recieved 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. Monday at Altmeyer Funeral Home, 154 Kruger St., Elm Grove, Wheeling, with vigil services at 3:30 p.m. and rosary devotions by St. Michael Christian Mothers at 3:45 p.m. Monday.
Funeral liturgy with Mass will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Tuesday at St. Michael Catholic Church, Wheeling, with the Rev. James Sobus as celebrant. Interment in Mount Calvary Cemetery, Wheeling.
