OBITUARY: Erma Anne Perri, 89, formerly of Palmyra, died May 2nd after a lengthy battle with vascular dementia. She was a resident of Potomac Valley Nursing Home in Rockville, Maryland. She was born on August 28, 1930, in Lebanon County to the late Jacob and Florence Brandt. - Mrs. Perri was a graduate of Hershey High School and received her nursing degree from St. Francis School of Nursing, now a part of the University of Pittsburgh. Her nursing career took her to several different states and hospitals, and she worked for many years in radiation oncology and psychiatry, including more than 20 years at Hershey Medical Center, before retiring in 1994. Throughout her career, she was also a frequent volunteer at Red Cross blood banks, and she worked with the Peace Corps for one year in the Philippines. - Survivors include five children and nine grandchildren: daughter Lynne Perri and husband Robert Barnes of Silver Spring, Maryland, and their children Abigail (Scott Kaczmarek) of Millbrae, California, and Grace Barnes of Washington, D.C.; daughter Karla Perri and husband Ben Matarese and their children, Brendan, of Arlington, Virginia, and Emilie Matarese of Tucson, Arizona; daughter Eileen Perri and husband Joe Koons and their children Ethan and Chloe of Alexandria, Virginia.; daughter Jeanmarie and husband Richard Morton of Tallahassee, Florida, and their children, Julia Morton, of New York, New York, and Daniel (Molly Kate) Morton of Johnson City, Tennessee; and son Leilyn and wife Michele and their son Matthew of Hummelstown, Pennsylvania. She is also survived by her brother, Jacob, and wife Dorothy of Annville, and brother Roger of Mount Joy, and many beloved nieces and nephews. - A private burial will be held in Annville, with a celebration of her life planned for later in the year. In lieu of flowers, the family asks you to consider a donation to the Association of Faculty and Friends of the Penn State Milton Hershey Medical Center. Hoover Funeral Home of Hershey handled the arrangements.
