Florence Bovard, Class of 1926, the daughter of Oliver and Maude S. "Lottie" Sonora (Arner) Bovard, was from Cherry Twp., Butler County, Pennsylvania. Siblings were David Carl, Lena Grace, Lillian L., Walter O., James P., Francis P., and Glencora.
Florence is mentioned in the society column of the New Castle area newspapers, but there is no mention of her nursing school graduation or her marriage.
A 1923 item states that her sister, Frances Bovard, visited Florence at St. Francis Hospital in Pittsburgh where she was a patient.
The 1930 Census of New Castle, Lawrence County, taken April 3-4, names Florence Bovard, 25, a trained nurse in private practice, as a lodger in the home of Percy and Edna Wallace.
In the latter part of September 1930, Oliver Bovard, then residing in New Castle, died suddenly. His daughter, Florence, is listed in the obituary as the wife of Samuel Richards.
The 1961 obituary of Samuel Richards, the son of Morgan and Margaret Richards, states that he married Florence Bovard in 1930. It would appear that the marriage occurred between the time the census was taken at the beginning of April, and the date Oliver's death in September.
