OBITUARY: Mary Margaret Donovan, our beloved mother, passed away at home, surrounded by family, Jan. 10, 2017, after a short battle with cancer. Born in 1938, in Sewickley, Pa., to Mary T. and Charles T. Blake, she graduated from St. Veronica High School in Ambridge, Pa., where she met her husband, John G. Donovan. Mary Margaret went on to graduate from St. Francis Nursing School in Pittsburgh, in 1958, and married her Johnny on Jan. 3, 1959. She raised five children all over the world but settled in Half Moon Bay in 1965. She worked as a nurse at Kaiser Permanente for 38 years and later served as a tireless volunteer at her church and the Society of St. Vincent de Paul chapter. - She is survived by her children: sons Patrick Donovan (Katie), of Winnemucca, Nev., and Timothy Donovan (Kristen), of Pioneer, Calif., daughters Colleen Sullivan (Michael), of Santa Cruz, Calif., and Erin Rose (Terry), of Portland, Ore., daughter-in-law Darla Donovan, of Loma Mar, Calif.; and grandchildren Hannah Sullivan, Maeve and Mickey Donovan, and Maggie Rose. She was preceded in death by her husband of 57 years, John G. Donovan, and son John C. “JD” Donovan. She is also survived by her siblings, Martha Mesko (Chester), Dennis Blake (Mary), Timothy Blake (Claudia) and Michael Blake (Elaine), along with many beloved nieces and nephews. - Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. on Saturday, Jan. 28, at Our Lady of the Pillar Catholic Church in Half Moon Bay. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be sent to the Society of St. Vincent de Paul, at Our Lady of the Pillar Church, 400 Church St., Half Moon Bay, CA 94019.
