Amelia Suzanne "Suzie" Benko was the daughter of Joseph Benko, born in Austria, and his wife, Susan (Good), born in Pennsylvania. At the time of the 1940 Federal Census of Pittsburgh, Mr. and Mrs. Benko had three daughters: Anna (Anne), 20, Margaret, 16, and Ameal (Amelia), 15. Anne T. Benko graduated in the St. Francis nursing class of 1941.
While a student nurse at St. Francis during World War II, Amelia served in the U. S. Cadet Nursing Corps.
Amelia, born December 2, 1924, married William Ovila Lessard. They made their home in Homestead, Florida.
The mother, Susan Benko, died in Texas, but, in Pittsburgh, had been been a pastry chef at a hotel, according to a news article.
Amelia "Suzie" Lessard died in Florida on February 19, 2009.
