Virginia Mae Banavich Grue McKown died on August 7, 2006. Last known residence, Erie County, Ohio.

OBITUARY: Virginia M. Grue McKown - She was born on May 5, 1922, in Elizabeth, Pa., lived in Lorain County from 1953 to 1983, moved to Mount Davis, Pa., and returned to Vermilion in 2005 to make her home with her daughter, Mary Sharon Lydic.

Mrs. McKown was employed as a nursing supervisor at both the former St. Joseph Hospital and Community Health Partners Hospital in Lorain.

She was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church, Amherst, and St. Michael's Catholic Church, Salisbury, Pa. She graduated from St. Francis School of Nursing in Pittsburgh, Pa., and enjoyed painting, cooking, sewing, ceramics, reading and gardening.

Survivors in addition to her daughter Mary Sharon "Sherry" Lydic include four grandchildren, five great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild. She was preceded in death by her first husband, Edmund Grue, in 1960; second husband, Kirk McKown, in 1987; son, William Thomas Grue, in 1976; and five brothers and four sisters.

Graveside services will be Wednesday at 1 p.m. at St. Joseph Cemetery, Middle Ridge and South Pyle roads, Amherst Township. Jason Howard of Church on the North Coast will officiate.
