Kathryn Regina Ballas was born November 1, 1907 to John and Regina (Bolk) Ballas of Robertdale, Huntingdon County, Pennsylvania. She was baptized three days later at the Immaculate Conception Church, Dudley, Pennsylvania.

Following Kathryn's graduation from nursing school in 1930, she worked at St. Francis Hospital until her enlistment in the Army Nurse Corps about 1941.

Forrest Hull, M.D. died in Edmonton, Canada; he was 93.
Born September 8, 1911 in Los Angeles, Dr. Hull received his B.S. in Chemical Engineering and his M.D. degree from the University of Southern California. Dr. Hull spent 33 years in the military; during World War II, he received the Bronze Star and the French Croix de Guerre in Gold and was invited to the White House to meet Franklin and Eleanor Roosevelt. During the Korean War, he was in charge of Ophthalmology for the entire Far East Command and established an eye service at Tokyo General Hospital. Dr. Hull retired from the U.S. Army in 1953 as a full Colonel. At the time of his death, he had just finished writing his memoirs, "One Man and Two Wars,” not yet published.
In 1959, Hull established the Hull Eye Center in Lancaster, California. He served as a volunteer on the hospital ship "Good Hope" in 1966 and 1970, bringing medicine to Africa. He taught at hospitals in Indonesia with the Care-Medico program and was a volunteer instructor at the Jules Stein institute of Ophthalmology at UCLA. He was a member of the first city council of Lancaster and donated land for the formation of the 10 acre Hull Park in Lancaster.
Hull is survived by his wife Marte Van Wachem Hull, his son Frank E. Hull D.D.S. (USC-1977) and wife Barbara, daughter-in-law Sandra Hull, four stepchildren and numerous grandchildren and great grandchildren. He was predeceased by his first wife, Kathryn Ballas Hull in 1992 and his son Dr. Stephan Hull (USC-1957) in 1990.
Kathryn Ballas Hull died October 13, 1992. A U. S. Army Captain, she is buried at the Riverside National Cemetery, Riverside, Riverside County, California.
