Dorothea L. Anthony Dickson, 87
Worked as a nurse for many years
POLK, Pa. - Dorothea L. Anthony Dickson, 87, of 700 Main St., Polk, died Monday, Sept. 29, 1997, at her home.
She was born June 6, 1910, in Loleta, Elk County, daughter of the late William O. and Rebecca J. Greenewalt Anthony.
She was a graduate of Corsica High School. Following high school, she went to work at Polk State School and Hospital for a year before entering nurses' training at St. Francis Hospital in Pittsburgh. She graduated in 1932. She was a licensed nurse at Polk for 30 years of her 60 years in the profession.
Mrs. Dickson enjoyed playing bridge, traveling and flowers.
She was preceded in death July 1, 1996, by her husband, James R. Dickson, whom she married June 15, 1940; and by three sisters, Leila G. Anthony, Orleatha Torre and Marcella Anthony; and two brothers, Robert and William Anthony.
Survivors include a daughter, Mary L. Dickson of Polk; a son, James Dickson of Polk; three grandchildren, Mrs. Sean (LeAnne) Steele, Mrs. Peter (Stephanie) Libell and Jami DeSabato of Clintonville, Pa.; and two great-grandsons.
Friends may call at Huff Chapel, 312 W. Park St., Franklin, Wednesday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. A service will be held there at 2 p.m. Thursday with the Rev. Margaret Dunlap, retired pastor, officiating.
Burial will be at Old Sandy Cemetery.
