IRENE ANDREWS JAGEMAN

Class of 1920

Irene Louise Andrews, Class of 1920, and Helen Frances Andrews, Class of 1926, were sisters, from Erie, Pennsylvania.

At the time of the 1910 Federal Census, Joseph Andrews and his wife, Frances Rowand, were residents of Erie, Pennsylvania. Joseph was born in New York, and Frances was born in Pennsylvania. The children - all daughters - were born in Pennsylvania. They were: Irene, 13, Marion, 11, Helen, 10, Josephine, 5, Frances, 2, and Katherine, 7 months. Before 1920, they added Charlotte, Gertrude, and, finally, James Harold.

Irene was not living with the family at the time of the 1920 census. At that time, Irene Andrews, 23, was a student nurse at St. Francis Hospital in Pittsburgh, and a resident of the St. Francis Nurses' Residence. The record indicates that her father was born in Ohio, which is a conflict, since the father of the Irene Andrews from Erie was born in New York, according to some records.

It is not known where Irene practiced nursing between 1920, when she graduated, and 1926, when she married.

On July 1, 1926, Irene L. Andrews, Nurse, age 29, and the daughter of Joseph and Frances Andrews, married Charles A. Jageman, a City Fireman, age 31. Both were residents of Erie, Pennsylvania; her address was the family home. In the marriage application, Irene stated that her father was born in Ohio.

Irene and Charles had a son who died in infancy. Their daughter, Shirley, died in 2010.

Both of Irene's parents died in 1938.

Irene Louise Andrews Jageman was born November 9, 1896 and she died September 23, 1975. Her husband died on May 26, 1967 in Erie. They are buried at Laurel Hill Cemetery, Millcreek Township, Erie County, Pennsylvania.
