OLIVE AGNES ALBERTH

Class of 1913

Olive Agnes Alberth was the daughter of Paul A. and Catherine M. Alberth. Paul, born in Germany, immigrated in 1870 and was naturalized in 1876. Catherine was born in Pennsylvania but her parents were from Germany.

At the time of the 1910 census of Allegheny County, Paul Alberth was a watchman at a factory, and the family lived on 18th Street, 17th Ward. The data indicates that Paul and Catherine M. had been married for 36 years and she had given birth to 10 children, all still living. In addition to Olive A., age 18, three others were listed: Catherine A., 33; Edward J., 27 and Emma A., 25. Catherine M. had been married previously and it is not known how many children she and Paul had.

In 1920, Paul, his wife, Catherine, and Olive, were living on Brownsville Road, Carrick Borough, Allegheny County. Olive, listed as age 25, was a nurse in a private home. Paul was a laborer at a lumber company.

By 1930, Olive's mother was evidently deceased. Olive, stated age 35, lived with her father, age 75, on Nobles Lane, 29th Ward, Pittsburgh, Allegheny County. Olive was a "Graduate Nurse" with a private family. Also in the home was Paul's son-in-law, Fred Gotschall, age 50. - [Notes: (1) Paul's stated year of Naturalization is 1872. (2) Fred's wife was Ida in the 1910 census.]

Olive Alberth didn't marry. Born September 25, 1891, she died Sept 18, 1967; last residence Mount Oliver, Pittsburgh, Pa.
