Daughter of Lt. Alexander Clegg and Margaret Farmer. She and her sister were taken PRISONER by Indians. Simon Girty was instrumental in her release. She married SAMUEL MINOR.

Born 1608 England. In 1645, he joined John Winthrop Jr.'s colony of Massachusetts Puritans in the settlement of New London, CT. In 1652, he moved to Pawcatuck, CT, and with his father-in-law, WALTER PALMER, and two others, was a FOUNDER of Stonington, Connecticut.... He served as a Lieutenant in King Phillip's War, as did his son, our ancestor, CLEMENT MINOR.

KILLED and SCALPED by Indians near his home on the South Branch in Virginia. Daughter, Mary, also killed. Son, Peter, taken hostage. Another son, John, was attacked by Indians at his home in Hacker's Creek. He managed to escape, but his wife (Margaret Bonnett) and some of his children were killed.

CAPTAIN JOHN BAKER

Near present-day Moundsville, WV, he built BAKER'S STATION, a rendezvous of scouts along the Indian war path of the Muskingham Valley into Virginia. Captain Baker was WOUNDED by Indians across the river and DIED after being returned to the station. He and John Wetzel, along with others killed by Indians, are buried nearby. A monument was erected in Riverview Cemetery, Moundsville, in his honor.

Born ABT 1735. FOUNDER of Morgantown, Monongalia County, West Virginia. From Myers' History of West Virginia, "In the year 1758 a settlement was effected near the mouth of Decker's Creek by Thomas Decker and others, but in the following spring a party of Mingoes and Delawares surprised and murdered them. Fourteen years later a small stockade fort was erected by the Morgans on the site of the present city of Morgantown. - In October, 1785, fifty acres of the farm of Zackquell Morgan were "vested in Samuel Hanway, John Evans, David Scott, Michael Kearnes and James Dougherty, gentlemen, trustees, to be by them, or any of them, laid off in lots of half an acre each, with convenient streets, which shall be, and the same are hereby established, a town by name of Morgantown."

MORGAN MORGAN, first settlers of WV, along with the families of ICE, HALL, HAYES, COCHRAN, CUNNINGHAM, HARTLEY, BARNES, HAYMOND, and SPRINGER, settled near present-day Fairmont, just before the American Revolution. When in 1774 the Indians began to menace them(?), these families built FORT PRICKETT.
