OBITUARY

Cunningham, John "Jack" William Jr., 76, of Roosevelt Ave., Boggs Run Road, Benwood, died Sunday, May 7, 2000 in Reynolds Memorial Hospital, Glen Dale.(Died at home; pronounced dead at hospital.) He was a retired welder with Saturn Foundry, a Catholic, and a Navy veteran of World War II. He was preceded in death by his wife, Ruth Essie Smith Cunningham; his parents, John W. and Mary Pearl Cunningham Sr.; two sisters (Ruth Clarke & Helen McCormick). Surviving are a son, Sam (Samuel Joseph) and his wife Alma (Polsinelli) of Crestview, Fla.; three daughters, Linda Fluharty and her husband, Gene, of Baton Rouge, La., Lori Whitwam and her husband, Tom, of Elk River, Minn., and Lisa Lantrip and her husband, Darrell, of Pine Bluff, Ark.; a sister, Anna Mae Smith of Greeneville, Tenn.; 13 grandchildren; two (four) great-grandchildren. Friends received from 9 a.m. Wednesday until time of services at 10:30 a.m. at Kepner Funeral Home, 36th and Jacob Streets, Wheeling. Interment in Mount Olivet Cemetery.

John married Ruth Essie Smith, daughter of Orval Allen Smith and Ossie (Madge) Shaffer, on 22 May 1945 in Providence, RI. (Ruth Essie Smith was born on 12 Nov 1928 in McMechen, WV, died on 14 May 1984 in Pittsburgh, Allegheny Co., PA and was buried in Mt. Olivet Cemetery, Rt. 88, Marshall County, WV.)
