FLATS CEMETERY, HANCOCK COUNTY, WEST VIRGINIA

Samuel Minor, the son of James S. and Sarah Minor of Hancock County, was wounded at the Battle of Piedmont. He was captured and died of disease while a POW at Andersonville Prison in Georgia. He was buried in a grave there but a monument for him at the Flats Cemetery 'may' indicate his remains were moved home to Hancock County. Or, perhaps the family wanted this monument for him in his home county.
