Robert W. Cunningham, the son of James Allison Cunningham (b. 22 May 1816) & Christina Jones (b. 21 May 1819), was born in Harrison County, (West) Virginia about 1844. James was the son of Robert (b 9 Dec 1791) and Sarah Jane (Robey) Cunningham.

     William D. Cunningham enlisted in Company "G" on the same date as Robert W. He is listed as a deserter and nothing more has been found about him. He is not found in the James A. Cunningham family in the 1850 census.
