That we have been personally acquainted with the claimant, Robert McCammon, for the past thirty years and during our acquaintance with him he has been a sober, peaceable man of good habits, never knew him to have a bad habit, we know that he is disabled on account of rupture and disease of rectum but do not know any thing about the origin of either, but can say without hesitation that they are not a result of vicious habits, for the reason that he never had any vicious habits during our acquaintance with him.......... we further declare that we have no interest in said case and are not concerned in its prosecution.

General Affidavit
Under Act of June 27, 1890

State of Ohio, County of Crawford, SS:
In the matter of original pension claim No. 1191088 of Robert McCammon, Co. D, 12th W. Va. Vols. Infty. on this 8th day of August, 1898; personally appeared before me a Notary Public in and for the aforesaid County duly authorized to administer oaths, Robert McCammom aged 54 years, a resident of Sandusky Township in the County of Crawford and State of Ohio whose post office address is Sulphur Springs, Ohio well known to me to be reputable and entitled to credit, and who, being duly sworn, declared in relation to aforesaid case as follows:

That I am the claimant herein named and that about two years since, while riding horseback after cattle my horse stopped suddenly and threw me forward on the horn of the saddle and hurting the right groin it was very painful for several days and a lump came there which I afterwards learned was hernia and while I am not positive, yet I believe that is the time and place when and where I incurred hernia of right groin, the place was on my farm near Sulpher Springs, Ohio. I have had it ever since that time and do not know of ever receiving an injury before or since then, as to disease of rectum, I have had that since I came from the army and believe it is a result of chronic diarrhea that I contracted in the army and was in Hospital at Sandy Hook, Va. or Md. later part of June 1864 and the hernia and disease of rectum are not the result of vicious habits...............
I further declare that I have interest in said case and am concerned in its prosecution.
