Declaration for Invalid Pension
State of Ohio, County of BelmontOn this 29th day of April, AD one thousand eight hundred and ninety two Personally appeared before me, a Clerk of Court Within and for the county and State aforesaid William Kiger Aged 51 years, a resident of the town of St Clairsville, county of Belmont, State of Ohio, who being duly sworn according to law, Declares that he is the identical William Kiger who was enrolled on The 14th day of August, 1862 on Co. D 12th W. Va Vols In the service of the United States in the War of Rebellion, and served at least ninety days, and was honorably discharged at Richmond, Va, on the 16th day of June, 1865.
That he is now, totally unable to earn a support by manual labor by reason of Rheumatism, Piles and effects of having his left leg broken about 6 inches above the ankle joint.
That said disabilities are not due to his vicious habits, and are to the best of his knowledge and belief of a permanent character; that he is a pensioner under Certificate No 736.907. That he has not been employed in the Military or Naval service otherwise than as stated above.
That he makes this declaration for the purpose of being placed on the pension-roll of the United States under the provisions of the act of June 27, 1890.He hereby appoints, with full power of substitution and revocation S. S. Doyle of Washington DC his true and lawful attorney to prosecute his claim, and to receive therefore a fee of ten dollars; that his post office address is St Clairsville county of Belmont, State of Ohio

In the claim of William KigerOn this 31st day of December, A. D. 1894, before me a ______ in and for the aforesaid County, duly authorized to administer oaths, personally appeared Sam'l L. West, aged 34 years, a resident of St. Clairsville, in the county of Belmont, and State of Ohio, whose Post Office address is St Clairsville, well known to me to be respectable and entitled to credit, and who being duly sworn, declares in relation to aforesaid case as follows:
On the 18th of October 1891, when disabled by Rheumatism he endeavored to walk to the rear of his dwelling from the outside being in such a shape that he could not get to the basement by inside stairs, there was quite a grade, on going down this, he slipped and fell, breaking the left leg six inches above ankle causing total disability in connection with his Rheumatism, about eight (8) months-??? confined to the house almost the entire time. The disability was not in the least caused by vicious habits and has become permanent in character in interfering with locomotion and motion in ankle joint, it is also aggravated by the Rheumatism causing pain, swelling and sorenessI further declare that I have no interest in said claim, and am not concerned in its prosecution.

State of Ohio, County of Belmont, ss:On this 13 day of July, A.D. one thousand eight hundred and ninety one Personally appeared before me, a clerk of the Common Pleas Court Within and for the county and State aforesaid William Kiger aged 51 years, a resident of the town of St Clairsville, county of Belmont, State of Ohio, who being duly sworn according to law, declares that he is the identical William Kiger who was enrolled on the 14 day of August, 1862 in Co "D" 12" W. In 1870, he lived in Colerain, Belmont County, with his wife Eizabeth (Craft) and their children, William H., Belle R., Margaret, and Samuel. The soldier died May 13, 1900 and is buried at Saint Clairsville Union Cemetery, Belmont County, Ohio, per Headstones Provided for Deceased Union Civil War Veterans, 1861-1904.]
