John E. & Mary "Mollie" J. (Hunt) Hadsall
John E. Hadsall (also HADSELL), a descendant of Betty Zane, was born in Marshall County, W.Va. about 1844. He was the son of Noah Zane Hadsall and Susanna/Susannah Taylor, who were married in Marshall County on May 30, 1842 and are buried at Pleasant Valley Cemetery, Marshall County.
Noah Zane Hadsall's parents were Edward Hadsall, Jr. and Mary Ann "Polly" McLaughlin. "Polly" was the daughter of Elizabeth "Betty" Zane and her first husband, Ephraim McLaughlin.
Betty Zane was the Ohio Valley heroine who carried gun powder in her apron, past the Indians, to those defending Ft. Henry in Wheeling in 1777. Following the death of her husband, Ephraim McLaughlin, she married Jacob Clark.

THE DIARY of JOHN HADSALL John E. Hadsall married Mary J. "Mollie" Hunt in Marshall County on January 23, 1868. She was the daughter of David and Catherine (Stewart) Hunt. David Hunt served in Company "B" 7th West Virginia Infantry and lost an arm in the war.
