Harvey Haddix, the son of Samuel Haddix and Sarah Jane Poling, was born in Barbour County, (W) Virginia in 1839.

On 7 Oct 1860, Harvey Haddix married Lucy Ann McDaniel in Barbour County; she was the daughter of Isaac McDaniel and Sarah Loar McVicker. Harvey and Lucy's children were Martha Ellen Haddix, b 7 Oct 1862, and Anza Virginia Haddix, b 22 May 1865.
Harvey enlisted in Taylor County and was mustered in at Ft. Willey at Wheeling on August 24, 1862. He was killed at Ft Gregg, Va. on 2 Apr 1865. Lucy received a government pension, certificate #80.237. Samuel Haddix was named guardian of the minor children, which means that he oversaw their pension benefits.
According to a descendant, the family is in possession of a Bible with a bullet hole in it that was carried by Harvey.
Adam Haddix, 18, brother of Harvey, served in Company "F" 15th West Virginia Infantry. He mustered in 17 Feb 1863; mustered out 14 June 1865.
Phillip/Philip Haddix, 18, brother of Harvey, served as a substitute in Company "L" 1st West Virginia Cavalry. He mustered in 3 Feb 1865; mustered out 8 July 1865.
